The human race is connecting to the web like never before and at faster speeds.

Cigna CISO James Beeson says this is one of the Macro Trends that is changing everything. "There are 3.9 billion people connected to the Internet now, with over 5 billion expected by 2020," he says. James-Beeson-Cigna-CISO.png

"Potentially, there could be 5 billion bad guys! If you start to look at things like wealth disparity, you can begin to formulate how this impacts the cyber threat landscape."

Beeson is in charge of global information security for Cigna and he's the morning keynote on Thursday, November 9 at SecureWorld Seattle, speaking on "The Internet of Threats - A Look at Macro Trends in Technology and the Ever Expanding Cyber Threat Landscape."

One example he'll be sharing about is the expansion of the IoT to places we never imagined it would go, like clothing. The University of Washington just a had an IoT breakthrough that could speed things along.

So how do information security leaders combat the trends of this rapidly growing attack surface?

"We must collaborate more globally across public, private, and academic institutions," he says. "We must create a self-service model to be successful."

James Beeson is a key part of the complete agenda for the two-day, Seattle Area cybersecurity conference happening in Bellevue on November 8-9, 2017.
