One of the things we're really excited about at SecureWorld Boston (March 14-15, 2018) is a session on new efforts happening in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to address the desperate need for cybersecurity talent.
And it may be a model for what the rest of the country should be doing.
It's called the Cybersecurity Education and Training Consortium (CETC), and it is a joint initiative to increase connectivity between academia and the private sector with an eye on harnessing the region's impressive roster of colleges and universities "to collectively address the high demand for talent in the rapidly growing field of cybersecurity."
Specifically, it's pulling together 40 cybersecurity training and degree granting programs in Massachusetts. UMass is leading the charge on this one.
"We want to ensure we are producing top talent at scale and to make security careers more attractive and accessible in Massachusetts," says Katie Stebbins, Vice President for Economic Development at the University of Massachusetts.
Stebbins will lead the discussion at SecureWorld Boston because she serves as a liaison to the business community, establishing and growing research and workforce development partnerships to benefit the university and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
