Millions of parents and students in 45 states are experiencing the impact of a cyber attack on the educational portal and app Infinite Campus.

The educational hub, which allows parents and kids to check student grades and offers a wide variety of educational training, apparently started getting hit with a DDoS attack within weeks of a new school year getting underway.

The Oklahoma City School District posted this message:

"Access to your student's information through the parent portal may be limited or inaccessible due to the "denial of service" attack on our provider, Infinite Campus."

And a spokesperson for the district told NewsOK the attack on Infinite Campus was significant:

"The latest series of attacks began Monday, September 17, and included multiple customers and data centers. Homeland Security is now involved and Infinite Campus has hired additional security experts to assure all data is safe and to track down the attack perpetrators."

Infinite Campus says it serves more than 7 million students in 45 states. And with so many families experiencing the impact of a cyber attack it's no wonder everyone seems to be talking about cybersecurity.

Google also just proved that cybersecurity is now a mainstream issue.

The good news for kids in this attack: parents may be delayed and seeing their most recent grades.

The bad news for kids in this attack: their parents will eventually see those grades, anyway!
