At SecureWorld, we have heard you say it. There is a true shortage of those who are qualified to help secure the enterprise.

This has lead to some innovative approaches, like allowing those from the traditional side of IT to do a test project on the cybersecurity side of things. If that employee excels, they can move over to information security and the business has an easier time finding someone for that traditional IT role created by the move.

Beyond fixes like this, where will business find the massive number of employees needed to fill their cybersecurity needs in the future?

At this point, universities and colleges are of very limited help. A new read in The Village Voice is intriguing. Cybersecurity is a hot new major in 2017, yes. But there's a major challenge here: Everyone wants to teach it, but nobody can decide what it is.

Let SecureWorld know if you have a school near you that's figuring things out in this space. Together, we can spread the word and help the education community close the gap.
